When we look at the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juicer vs Jack LaLanne Juicer the first thing you may notice is the Hamilton Beach is about half the price of the Jack LaLanne, depending on where you buy it. But 50 bucks isn’t enough to make it a deciding factor when you’re looking at an appliance you could be using for several years to come.

I’ve been juicing for more than a decade and I’ve had a few different centrifugal juicers. The two most recent are the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juicer and the Jack LaLanne Juicer.

What Is a Centrifugal Juicer?

According to this Juicing for Health article centrifugal juicers chop up the fruit or vegetable with a flat cutting blade (much like a blender). It simultaneously spins the produce at a very high speed (of about 3,000 to 16,000 RPMs) to separate the juice from the pulp.

The juice is extracted by the sheer power of centrifugal force, very much like how a washing machine spins to relieve wet clothes of excess water.

The juice passes through the tiny holes in a strainer basket and is collected in a container. The pulp remains behind in the strainer basket to be removed afterward.

How I Made My Choice of Which Juicer to Buy

If you just watched the video, you’ll see that he preferred the Jack LaLanne. I disagree and 100% prefer the Hamilton Beach just as much 7 years later.

I found that I wasn’t juicing as much as I’d like to have been with the Jack LaLanne because it required too much pre-cutting of veggies and the clean up was too much trouble. So I was ready to ditch juice altogether for green smoothies when I discovered the Hamilton Beach.

The Hamilton Beach juicer took care of both of those complaints I had.

If you’re anything like me, the time and effort it takes to do the job have a direct correlation with how often I do it. And I found myself juicing less and less as time went on.

When I juice, my dogs get the pulp mixed in with their breakfast. If I’m not juicing they don’t get their fruits and veggie pulp.

Juicing and green smoothies are both a big part of having a healthy ageless body so I can continue to have an ageless lifestyle after 50.

Cheaper, Less Chopping and More Powerful than Jack LaLanne Juicer

Just as I was about to give up, a friend mentioned he had found a cheaper juicer that had a much more powerful motor. And he said it had a wider opening so he didn’t need to chop everything up beforehand.

Cheaper, more powerful and less chopping? It didn’t seem like those 3 things could possibly go together!

I had to find out for myself so I went and bought the Hamilton Beach juicer. It didn’t look as professional as the Jack LaLanne, just plastic. I thought it probably wouldn’t last very long, but at under $50, it was worth a try.

Surprisingly, this juicer is still a workhorse more than 7 years later.

What I Love About the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juicer:

#1 It’s got a powerful 800-watt motor which means it chews things up really fast and really well.

#2 Despite claims that centrifugal juicers heat up the juice, the stainless steel basket is not even a little warm to the touch when I take it apart to clean it. And my juice is always still cold from the veggies and fruit coming out of the refrigerator.

#3 The wide mouth means I can stick most veggies and even a whole apple in there without any chopping. When it says you can use whole foods, it means it.

#4 Easy cleanup. I put a bag in the bin so I can put the bag directly into the fridge to use the pulp in a smoothie or for my dog’s food later. Everything else rinses clean in a couple minutes. I don’t use the dishwasher for my juicer, but it’s all good in the dishwasher.

#5 I have my juice in 2 minutes. With a powerful motor and no need to chop veggies, you finish your juice fast!

The only thing I cut first is if I have a large beet because they are so hard. I’m 5’2″ and don’t have enough leverage at my height to push through a whole beet as fast as I’d like unless it’s a small one, so I cut it in half.

I can put 4 carrots side by side with spinach and sprouts below it and parsley around it and it all goes through like a champ. It’s big enough for a cucumber and a couple stalks of celery at the same time,  or a whole apple.

It cleans up so quickly that I let my juice sit for the couple minutes it takes to get it all cleaned up and it’s still cold when I drink it.

For me, it’s an easy choice with the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juicer vs Jack LaLanne Power Juicer. You can decide for yourself. I’ve put the links here so you can click and go directly to each of their pages.

Why You Might Prefer the Jack LaLanne Juicer

#1 It is quieter

#2 It looks more professional on your counter if you need that appearance

#3 It has a spout you can tip up so it doesn’t drip

Thank you so much for this timely information, Lynn! I’m determined to integrate home juicing
into my daily routine but every time I look into purchasing a juicer (again), I stumble trying to
discern the one that will sustainably meet my needs.

This does a great job and you can’t beat the price.

If you become a serious juicer this will give you years of daily use. And if you only juice occasionally, you haven’t spent a big chunk of money.
