What will change in the next 160 days?
That’s how many days there are left in this year.
What is your proudest accomplishment so far this year?
What is the major project you’re working on now?
Are you on track to reach or surpass the goals you’ve set?
Sadly, the majority of people can’t answer any of those questions with positive news. And that’s why you need systems in place in your life and business to succeed long-term.
Doing great things requires systems and processes. There’s just no way around it.
My downfall
I tried to fly by the seat of my pants in my business a decade ago and it led to a lot of pain and financial turmoil when things started crashing in the U.S. in 2008.
I was getting a divorce, buying a house on Maui and moving my business.
When my client’s finances started to decline, so did mine.
The problem was, I didn’t like looking at numbers, so I had no systems in place to tell me where my money was coming from.
I didn’t know which was my highest income producing activities. Was it my products, live classes, private clients, speaking at other people’s events, doing my own events?
I had no idea.
Because I was making way more than enough, I didn’t care. I said the Universe was taking care of me. It was, but unfortunately, I wasn’t doing my part.
So in 2008 when everything hit the fan, I didn’t have a plan. Again, that’s why you need systems in place that allow you to track your progress in every area of your life and business.
My financial goal planning had always been my weakest area because money came in abundance, so it isn’t my focus.
I know better now. I know that every area of my life and business needs systems and processes.
Because you never know when something completely unexpected will throw a monkey wrench into your effortless results.
I have always been a serious goal setter, but not equally in all areas of my life.
To get myself back on track I became a much stronger goal setter. And I have a great tracking and measuring element in place to make sure I achieve my goals.
I no longer assume things will just take care of themselves.
What kind of systems do you have in place?
Is there still an area in your life where you stick your head in the sand? That’s why you need systems.
Take my advice and change that now before something happens.

The year can still end up being a great one, one where you accomplish big things.
If you’re strapped for time, just take 15 minutes a day if that’s what you’ve got. The important thing is to do something. Build your systems.
And when December comes around, it will be a breeze to set yourself up for even bigger success next year.
