You don't have to be a type A personality to have great energy. Giving your energy a boost with these 10 tips will give you a high energy level and fitness beyond going to the gym. Overall fitness is much bigger and has a broader scope than just working out. There are many people who go to the gym regularly and still suffer from low energy.

You can have a quiet energy that helps you power through the day from a place of strength, confidence and passion. I would consider myself to outwardly be a low energy person in terms of appearance, but I have the energy to keep going every day with no need for naps or snacks to keep me moving.


It's really simple. There are 10 things anyone can do that will set you up to have boundless energy each and every day…no matter what's on your plate.

Spiritual Foundation

Do you believe in some kind of higher power? You may be wondering what this has to do with energy, but daily spiritual practice is the foundation everything else builds upon to create a steady flow of energy throughout the day. Great thinkers, inventors, artists, statesman and philosophers down through the ages have credited their spiritual connection for their success.

In studying many of the wealthiest and most successful people today, who all have energy and stamina to easily do long hours, I found most start their day with an hour of spiritually oriented reading and meditation. Yes, I said an hour. It seems like a lot of time for busy successful people, but taking this time is what sets the tone for the day and gives them the energy they need for an incredibly busy life. They also tend to go to bed later and get up earlier than the rest of the population. The energy to take on the work they do comes from the foundation of their daily spiritual practice. In the 20 years I’ve been following this practice, I’ve seen a tremendous increase in energy, focus, creativity and abundance. Yes, there are many days I don’t feel like getting up early, but I’ve been doing it long enough that I know the difference in the days I do and the days I don’t, and it’s just not worth the extra time in bed to sacrifice the benefits of the calmness and level of focus it brings.

Listen to Happy Music

Music shifts your energy and it works fast. When I'm writing and need focused energy I listen to spa music. When I'm doing other tasks I listen to more upbeat music. I'm sure it's the same for you, isn't it? Everybody has a song or a band they can listen to that just lifts their spirits immediately. Your energy shifts in an instant. It works from the time you're a baby until the day you leave this world.

Positive Self-Talk

I grew up in the land of “Who do you think you are?” This is still a common message many receive today. It can be difficult reconciling success with that message. Without a strong positive self-image, your energy plummets and success is a constant struggle.

On the positive side, if you “act as if” you are self-assured, confident, knowledgeable and fun to be with, you will exude great energy and become what you are portraying. You’ve heard the saying, “Fake it until you make it.” This is not being phony. Making a change to be more positive about yourself has to start somewhere and this is the first step.

People will be drawn to you, which also boosts your energy because you feel good about yourself. You will begin to see evidence that all the great things other people see in you are true. The more you do this the more easily you believe it and you begin to accept it as fact. Before you know it, your energy levels just keep spiraling higher and higher. The key to self-esteem is that your opinion is the only one that counts.

Yoga Stretches

This is the mildest form of movement and it doesn't require you to be anywhere other than where you are right now. Just getting your blood flowing will raise your energy level instantly. Your dog or cat does yoga all day long. Just follow their lead. Yoga also helps you to breathe deeper which increases your energy instantly, along with calming any stress hormones that may be running your energy down.

The most important part of reading, listening and watching is that you implement what you learn. All these things together continue to raise your vibration and it's impossible for you not to feel the increase in your energy.

When you listen to self-development information on a regular basis, just by osmosis alone, you will find yourself more confidant, calmer and more positive, full of energy and ready to take on the world! You will notice the effects not only in your personal life, but also in your business. Negative things that used to set you off will no longer bother you in the same way. The rewards are substantial. Be open to letting the information in.

Just as when you were a child and books magically took you to places you had never traveled to before, inspirational books will guide you to becoming the person you want to be. More often than not, we don’t grow up with unlimited funds, love, and guidance. So it becomes your responsibility to improve your life. If you don’t have the support system you would like to have in your personal life, you can find it in books and videos.

Without motivational and inspirational books and audios I listened to in the past, I certainly wouldn’t have anything close to the fabulous life I have now. Books and audios gave me the vision and the possibility that my life could be different. So pick a book and start reading, or get your motivation from Youtube. There's plenty of inspirational videos there.

It starts with finding your dream, ignited by passion, followed with a vision that raises your energy so you can do anything without feeling tired, exhausted or drained. You'll find you end the day full of energy and excited to see what tomorrow brings.

Walk in Nature

Just breathing in some fresh air and looking at trees, flowers, clouds, anything in nature will boost your energy. I've chosen to live on the ocean in Cabo San Lucas Mexico. From my desk I watch whales and sea birds. I listen to the song birds singing and the waves crashing on the rocks as they come into my beach cove. You may live in the complete opposite situation and go outside in a smog chocked city filled with so many tall buildings you can hardly see the sky. But nature is still there. Look for it and enjoy just a few moments. That's all it takes to increase your energy. And then on the weekends, seek out nature and walk in it…mountains, lakes, forest, ocean. What is your favorite slice of nature? You'd be surprised how much you can boost your energy by watching Youtube videos that make you feel like you're right there now.

Positive Friends

There's an old story about a man who was moving from one village to another one down the road. On his way to the new village, the man stopped a farmer outside of town and asked, “What kind of people live in this village of yours?” The farmer said, “What kind of people live in the village you’re leaving?”

The man answered that the people in his old village were dishonest, untrustworthy people who were very hard to get along with. The farmer said, “You will find the same kind of people in this village.”

The next day another man walked by on his way to the farmer’s village and asked the same question about what kind of people he will find in the new village. The farmer once again asked what kind of people live in the village he came from.

The mans face lit up as he told of the wonderful people he had known in his old village. They were kind, helpful, happy, loving people. The farmer was quick to tell the second man that those are the exact same kind of people who live in his village.

You see, you get exactly what you expect to get based on your perceptions of the world. Now that you know this, why would you hang around any people who are less than positive? Unpleasantness from you or them just deplete your energy!

You must change your thoughts about yourself and the world if you want to boost your energy.

Our thoughts create our energy and shape our lives. You have all the tools needed to change your thoughts to boost your energy and create yourself as you were meant to be and start living an ageless lifestyle today. It’s a choice you make, not something that happens to you.


What you eat gives you the building blocks for the energy of your body the same way your spiritual practice and other tips here are the energy of your mind. So many times when you feel your energy sinking, you really need a glass of water. You can't have high energy without being fully hydrated. When you feel hungry or tired (and you get 7-8 hours of sleep and eat nutrient-dense foods), try water first. You want to drink half your weight in ounces of water each day. If you weigh 150 pounds, drink 75 ounces of water.

Eat plenty of complex carbs (whole grains), fruits and veggies. If you eat meat, you only need a 4 ounce portion for protein. Most people go way overboard on protein. Those veggies and grains you're eating have protein in them too.

Just getting rid of caffeine and sugar will boost your energy. Yes I know that's why you eat them, but they actually have the opposite effect. Eat real food, not things that come in packages.

Sleep is not overrated. You need to have 7-8 hours of sleep to have high energy. You may have created a habit of sleeping less, but eventually the sleep loss will catch up with you and the price you pay will not be worth it.
