This last week I noticed more people complaining about feeling run down, have a cold and sore throat. That’s no fun, but especially when it’s summer and you want to be outside, not sick in bed.
It was a gorgeous weekend here after the tropical storm blew through. It was almost 20 degrees cooler and just a slight breeze with not a cloud in the sky.
I wanted to spend time at the beach. I sure wouldn’t want to be inside feeling sick.

Our star immune boosting food today is the sweet potato.
Sweet potatoes will boost your immune system and they don’t spike your blood sugar.
There are healthy ways of eating sweet potatoes, besides the Thanksgiving sweet potato casserole full of butter, sugar, and marshmallows.
One medium sweet potato gives you 120% of the daily value of vitamin A and 30% of the daily value of vitamin C, all for just 100 calories. These vitamins are crucial for immune function and great for your skin.
Sweet potatoes also happen to have good amounts of several of the top immune building vitamins. Besides vitamin A and C, they also are high in B6, D, and iron.
What do these vitamins do?
Vitamin A helps with vision, bone health, and cell integrity.
Vitamin B6 helps regulate your metabolism.
Vitamin C contributes to bone health.
Vitamin D helps you to absorb calcium for bone health. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to breast cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, heart disease, depression, and weight gain.
Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps slow aging.
Folate supports adrenal function and helps calm and maintain a healthy nervous system.
Iron carries oxygen to the cells and helps create energy from nutrients.
