Manifest Anything With These 7 Secrets to Goal Setting
- 1. Start With Your Strengths
Although you can base your goals on anything you want, your chances of success are greater if, first, you base them on your strengths. To find out your strengths, do some self-research, such as a personal SWOT: your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Then look at what you are really passionate about. Which of these strengths really calls to you? Exactly which part of it appeals to you them most? Be specific.
- 2. Put Your Goals In Writing
Written goals have a way of transforming wishes into desires, can't into will, dreams into blueprints and blueprints into reality. The act of writing clarifies your thoughts about your goals and provides you with a clear end point, your desired result. You can even add reasons why to your goals to give you more motivation. So don't just think it - ink it!
- 3. Dream Big
One of the factors that restricts the realization of your full potential is the belief that you shouldn't go for big goals. You may think you need to aim lower and be more realistic. Yet all the evidence of those who realize big goals is that you can always achieve far more than you think. David Schwartz says in his book "The Magic of Thinking Big": "Big goals attract big resources like a magnet."
- 4. Set Your Short Term Goals
Once you have set your ultimate goal or goals, you then need to set the short term goals that will get you where you want to go. Don't set these goals so they are too easy or too ambitious or they will be the roadblock that ends the pursuit of this goal. Make them challenging, a little out of reach, but not out of sight.
- 5. Express Them Correctly
It's important to express your goals in the right way:
Express your goal in terms of what you do want, not what you don't want
Express your goals in performance terms, not reward terms
Express your goals in terms of how others benefit before your personal benefit
Express your goals according to the principles which matter most to you (Created in your Personal Manifesto)

When you set goals for yourself, they should be expressed in behavioral terms, rather than in terms of status, rewards or position. That's because behavior is completely within your power. Formulating goals in behavioral terms also means you present a strong positive image of yourself to your brain. The brain, not knowing the difference between a real or imagined experience, then seeks to act in accordance with the presented image.
7. Pursue Your Goals With Passion
The driving force behind your goal achievement is desire. You must have a burning desire to achieve your goals thinking about them constantly, vividly and with a belief in their manifestation. If you do, you can't fail to achieve them. It was said of Michelangelo that he could blot out every distraction while working on a project such as the statue of David, until it was completed. That's a perfect example of focus on every short term goal that makes up the blueprint to the realization of the big goal you desire as an end result.
